Our steering group

The power of collaboration originally inspired the creation of the Young Dementia Network’s steering group.

The steering group:

  • leads the development, activities and focus of the Network
  • ensures the Network and its activities are guided by people affected by and working within young onset dementia
  • provides professional credibility for the Network and its activities
  • via its workstreams, creates resources, toolkits, policy and campaigning materials
  • uses its professional networks to promote the work of the Network
  • drives forward projects and achievements for people affected by young onset dementia

The individuals and organisations who make up the steering group are passionate about improving the lives of people living with young onset dementia and their families. They have been invited to join due to their personal or professional knowledge and experience of young onset dementia and include a mix of people affected by the condition, clinicians, researchers and academics, other involvement networks and dementia organisations and service providers.

They utilise their personal profile, contacts and networks for the purpose of influencing and volunteer their time to attend our meetings.

Our workstreams

In addition to our steering group, the Young Dementia Network has a number of active working groups or workstreams that focus on specific areas that are of particular importance in relation to young onset dementia.

Members are drawn from the steering group as well as individuals who have been invited to take part due to their personal or professional knowledge, expertise of the subject and ability to make things happen.

Our workstreams are currently focusing on:

  • diagnosis and support
  • improving understanding and awareness
