Mind the gap: navigating young onset dementia from pre-diagnosis onwards

Dementia Forward has delivered a young onset dementia support service across North Yorkshire for over 10 years. Initially focusing on outward-bound respite days, the service has grown to provide age-specific support, advice and information and the team is now working to improve the availability of respite and care.

Our webinar in February 2024 was led by Jill Quinn MBE, Dementia Forward’s CEO. She shared the learning from the charity’s work with hundreds of families at all stages of young onset dementia alongside her colleagues Karen Thomas, Head of Young Onset Dementia; Julia Davy, Dementia Specialist Nurse, Head of Clinical Services and Fiona Andrews, Community Education Coordinator.

A pre-recorded interview with Wendy, whose husband Mark was diagnosed with dementia aged 54, offered a personal perspective of their services.
