Authori-tea with Wendy Mitchell

On Wednesday 16th February 2022, we continued our series of young onset dementia webinars with Authori-tea – what I wish people knew about dementia by someone that knows.

Wendy Mitchell is a best-selling author, blogger and member of the Young Dementia Network Steering Group. She was diagnosed with young onset dementia in July 2014 at the age of 58. Following her diagnosis, Wendy became committed to raising awareness of dementia and encouraging others to see that there is life after a diagnosis.

She wrote a memoir of her life titled ‘Somebody I used to know’ in 2019 and has followed this up with a second book, published in January 2022, ‘What I wish I people knew about dementia’. During this webinar, Wendy discussed her life and read excerpts from her new book in conversation with Philly Hare, Director at Innovations in Dementia CIC.
