Hilary Doxford – living with young onset dementia, Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, member of the Research Network and co-founder 3 Nations Dementia Working Group

In December 2012 at the age of 53, Hilary was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s disease.  She lives in Yeovil and is married to Peter who is a wonderful support.

Hilary is an Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society and a member of their Research Network.  She was appointed to the World Dementia Council in 2015 and is a former Vice-Chair of the European Working Group of People with Dementia.

Speaking nationally and internationally as a person living with dementia she participates in research studies and champions ‘Join Dementia Research’.  She is a founder member of the 3 Nations Dementia Working Group and a member of many committees and steering groups.  She enjoys her local memory café and being in the company of many friends with a diagnosis.

‘I want to work with and help those who are trying to help me and my friends.  I am particularly impressed with what the Young Dementia Network has achieved with limited resources for a group of people so often overlooked.’
